Carrefour signed an agreement with the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore in Pakistan on April 26th, 2022 to establish two standalone stores – with an investment of around PKR 1 billion.

Alongside increasing the presence of the brand and creating convenient shopping areas with quality products and competitive prices, Carrefour will also create around 500 jobs (indirect and direct), playing a small role in increasing the employment rates of the country.

The investment for these stores will bring Carrefour’s total investment in Pakistan to a whopping PKR 11 billion. Moreover, Carrefour’s processes will help streamline Pakistan’s supply chain even further, since the giant sources 99% of its products locally, through more than 700 Pakistani partners and suppliers.

Carrefour also signed an MOU with Al Khidmat Foundation in February. The agreement revolved around both organizations supporting individuals & families in need during Ramadan.

Carrefour is one of the largest hypermarket and supermarket chains in the world. The brand was launched in the region in 1995 by Majid Al Futtaim, which is the exclusive franchisee to operate Carrefour in over 30 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Today, Majid Al Futtaim operates over 300 Carrefour stores, serving more than 750,000 customers daily and employing over 37,000 colleagues. Carrefour first opened in Pakistan in 2009, and presently operates 8 stores and employs over 1300 employees.
