Introduction

Applications are now open for the MIT Knight Science Journalism Fellowship 2026–27, a fully funded international fellowship hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This prestigious 9.5-month fellowship program is designed for experienced science journalists from around the world who wish to deepen their understanding of science, technology, and journalism at one of the world’s top research institutions.

Each year, 10 outstanding journalists are selected globally, with no country restrictions.

The fellowship is hosted by Knight Science Journalism at MIT, a globally respected program that brings journalists into close contact with scientists, engineers, and leading researchers. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Open to all nationalities

• Must be a full-time science journalist (staff or freelance)

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience covering:

• Strong record of professional excellence and impact

• ❌ Part-time bloggers and producers are not eligible

Fellowship Coverage

The MIT Knight Science Journalism Fellowship offers comprehensive financial support, including:
