NIMA and Telec Group Ink MoU to Boost Maritime Innovation in Pakistan

The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) and Telec Group signed an MoU on 11 April 2025 to advance Pakistan’s maritime sector. The partnership aims to integrate ICT solutions into maritime operations, enhance research, and promote sustainable blue economy initiatives—paving the way for a smarter, more resilient maritime future.

An MoU was signed between the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) and the Telec Group of Companies on 11 April 2025 at NIMA’s head office at Bahria University, Islamabad. The document was formally endorsed by Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed HI(M) (Retd.), the president of NIMA, and Mr. Syed Ghazanfar Sajjad, the chairman of Telec Group of Companies.

President NIMA warmly welcomed the delegation in his opening remarks and highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime sector through joint research, smart technology integration, capacity building, and sustainable Blue Economy initiatives.

Mr. Syed Hussain Sajjad, the chief operating officer of Telec Group, highlighted the organization’s legacy and contributions over the years. Chairman Telec expressed keen interest in partnering with NIMA to explore opportunities for integrating ICT expertise into maritime systems, ranging from port digitization and coastal surveillance to smart maritime infrastructure. He emphasized the prospects of this collaboration in shaping a modern and resilient maritime sector in Pakistan.
