On the occasion of World Maritime Day, the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) hosted a book launch ceremony on Sep 26, 2024, titled “From a Mountain Boy to a Destroyer’s Captain,” written by Commodore Mahmood Ur Rehman, (Retd).

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, the Chief Guest, praised the writer for documenting inspiring journeys for future generations.

Other speakers included Mr. Shujaat Ali Rahi, Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim (Retd), and Admiral Abdul Aziz Mirza, former CNS, who commended the writer’s exemplifying leadership qualities which will surely inspire the youth.

Cdre Mahmood expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, mentors, colleagues, and family members for their support. He also praised NIMA’s contributions in promoting maritime interests.
Earlier, Baber Bilal Haider, Vice President of NIMA, welcomed the guests to the book launch. The event attracted a vast segment of diplomats, students, maritime community and media personnel.
