Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the flagship carrier of Pakistan and has been operating since 1946. However, in recent years, PIA has faced severe financial and safety issues that have led to the accumulation of losses amounting to billions of rupees. Due to these problems, the Pakistani government has decided to privatize the airline. However, this decision has caused disagreements between different ministries.
The CEO of PIA has warned that if the airline is not restructured, it could face an annual loss of Rs259 billion by 2030. This would further exacerbate the financial challenges the airline is already facing. Therefore, it is important for PIA to find a solution to its problems as soon as possible to ensure its sustainability in the long run.
