Shireen Mushtaq is an assistant professor in the international relations department at Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore. She has a Ph.D. in international relations; her thesis is on Nation-building in Afghanistan: Post-Afghan Surge (2009–Present). She has worked extensively on the regional dynamics of South Asia, covering a wide range of issues such as nations and nationalism, strategic and maritime security, and foreign policy. The authors examine the conference’s agenda and achievements through the lens of the conflict-climate intersection. They discuss how these two concepts are deeply interconnected and highlight that the COP’s exclusion of the conflict, primarily the Israel-Gaza war, from the agenda makes it challenging to achieve climate goals in the region.
