President Trump’s Return and the Revival of Global Tensions
Since US President Donald Trump was re-elected as the 47th US President for the second non-consecutive term, his focus has been on portraying himself as a man of peace on the global stage. However, his actions are quite contrary to his claims. Soon after President Trump’s assumption of the US presidency in January 2025, the world witnessed a renewed trade war between China and the United States. The Trump administration imposed huge tariffs on all its trade partners. These trade tariffs reflect US anxiety over the rapid and swift rise of the Eastern bloc, led by China and Russia. The two new global superpowers pose a direct threat to the US hegemony.
The Rise of BRICS and the Challenge to US Dominance
China and Russia are pursuing an egalitarian and inclusive world order. Their inclusive international politics and policy of non-intervention in domestic issues of their allies have strengthened their soft image globally. Both countries are playing a pivotal role in BRICS. Their policies have made the two countries the best alternatives for third-world countries in their quest for reliable allies. In recent years, China, Russia, and other BRICS member states have decided to expand the organization. This resulted in numerous bids by different third-world states and middle powers. Ethiopia, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates joined BRICS in 2024-2025, while 40 more countries demonstrated their interest in joining the BRICS organization.
The BRICS also announced its plan to launch its own currency for mutual trade and to end the US dollar hegemony over global trade. This development sent shockwaves through the United States, sparking anxiety among the US establishment. The US President Donald Trump threatened the BRICS nations with strict measures in case they attempted to launch a separate currency for mutual trade. The Trump administration has stepped up pressure on BRICS nations, employing a range of coercive tactics to block their plans for launching a new joint currency. It imposed high tariffs on many countries, which led to global economic chaos.
Militarism, Intervention, and the Myth of “Peace”
In addition, the United States is once again targeting its rivals militarily. Recently, the US forces have conducted their 10th strike on Venezuelan vessels, killing numerous people on board, accusing them of drug trafficking, without providing any concrete evidence. In addition, President Trump has also authorized the CIA to conduct a covert operation for regime change in Venezuela. The US administration has accused the Venezuelan president of drug trafficking and has also offered a $50 million bounty for his arrest. However, many believe that these US operations against the incumbent Venezuelan government are due to its strong ties with Russia.
Moreover, the United States has played a pivotal role in Gaza’s destruction. Washington has provided unprecedented diplomatic, financial, and military assistance to Israel for its genocidal operations in Gaza. In his recent address to the Israeli Knesset, US President Donald Trump confessed that he provided all types of weapons to Israel at Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request. He also shamelessly appreciated the Zionist state for the efficient and effective use of the US weapons. For Israel and the United States, Gaza has been the testing ground for their military technology and weapons. A huge proportion of the US economy depends on its weapons industry. Therefore, the US provides Israel with its weapons to increase its market value.
The United States also attacked Iran to support Israel. In addition, its military bases in Qatar and other Gulf States remained inactive during the Israeli attack in Doha despite its defense agreement with Qatar. Furthermore, the Trump administration also conducted violent air and naval strikes in Yemen, killing dozens of people. President Trump provided diplomatic support to Israel in its strikes in Lebanon and Syria.
Israel has been killing civilians in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, and Yemen with impunity due to the unwavering support of President Trump and the US establishment. The Zionist regime has violated the peace plan backed by Donald Trump more than 125 times. However, President Trump has not uttered even a single word against Israeli violations. His whole focus is on disarming and eliminating Hamas. Moreover, President Trump’s appointment of Tony Blair, the Butcher of Muslims, who is responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Iraq, as a member of the “Board of Peace” reflects his real intentions behind this so-called peace plan. It also exposes his narrative of “man of peace.”
Regional Manipulation and Global Instability
In addition, President Trump has exploited Pakistan to exert diplomatic pressure on India to minimize the latter’s energy imports from Russia. This move not only led to India’s decision to cut its oil imports from Russia and signa 10-year defense deal between New Delhi and Washington, but it also created a strategic instability in the region. The Trump administration is reportedly leveraging its ties with India to sow divisions within the BRICS bloc, particularly over the group’s efforts to advance a de-dollarization agenda.
The Trump administration is reportedly leveraging its ties with India to sow divisions within the BRICS bloc, particularly over the group’s efforts to advance a de-dollarization agenda. Therefore, their support for India could lead to a significant surge in India-backed terrorism in Pakistan, costing the country numerous lives.
President Donald Trump and his Western allies have also disrupted all the peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine. They seek to ensnare Russia into a war of attrition to exploit its military and financial resources. The US and Western conspiracy to fuel the Russia-Ukraine war has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people on both sides. However, the self-proclaimed “man of peace” is threatening Russia instead of addressing the core issue to resolve the ongoing violent conflict between the two sides.
Indeed, the actions of President Donald Trump in the first year of his second non-consecutive tenure as the US President demonstrate that he could be labelled anything but a man of peace. President Trump, just like his predecessors, is responsible for spreading violence, chaos, and turmoil around the world, leading to the deaths of numerous people from different regions.
