Despite being in a recession phase, the IMF demands contractionary policies, including tax hikes and subsidy cuts, which will further decrease aggregate demand and investments, leading to lower economic growth and unemployment. Expansionary policies are needed to stimulate production, employment, and investment. The government must consider the country’s economic condition before adhering to IMF policies, which may push Pakistan deeper into debt.
